Hairstyle: Wrapped Hairstick Bun with Tucked Ends

Well, my hair is now long enough for me to do my Wrapped Hairstick Bun with the ends tucked in without aid of any hairpins. I can just tuck the ends under before the final push-through of the hairstick.

This is what it looks like with the ends tucked in.

So I guess I've reached yet another mini-milestone. It's always nice to see progress, even in the smallest ways. I couldn't do this two weeks ago.

In just over a week it's time for me to do my quarterly length comparison update. I hope that there is enough difference in length to show a good 3 month difference from the first of August to the first of November.

There was no real difference between May and August, as only the sides were longer. I had trimmed off the "V" at the centre of the length, so that took off two inches of overall length. I'm looking forward to seeing a visible difference this time, as I haven't had any big trims.

It was a lovely, sunny morning, and then suddenly it started to rain. It just seemed to come out of nowhere. I certainly don't mind the rain, but it did come as a surprise. Well, I guess one should never be surprised by the weather in October. It's a very changeable month.

So that's it for today. I'm off to enjoy my Saturday night in a quiet way. I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend too, wherever you are.

'Til tomorrow, my friends. Much love to all.

Hair Is Feeling Good Today

In Thursday's entry, I talked about a weak dilution of lemon juice in water as a final rinse. I mentioned yesterday that I did try it out. Today is day two, and my hair is really feeling good. It's very soft and silky, but not limp and shiny.

I've told you before that I always rinse with a dilution of apple cider vinegar with good results. Today and yesterday, my hair has felt better than it even does with the ACV rinse.

While it's impossible to know at this point if it's the lemon rinse that is making my hair feel so good after just one try, I can safely say that I'll keep it up for three weeks and by then I'll know if the lemon rinse is responsible for making my hair feel so good or whether this is just a happy accident.

I've talked about the many factors that go into a good hair day before. It could be the difference between rinsing one's hair for an extra 30 seconds or using just a tiny bit more conditioner than usual.

In any case, I recommend that if you have curly or wavy hair that is prone to a bit of frizz, this is really worth a shot.

I'm looking forward to seeing whether or not this is just a fluke.

To do the lemon rinse, I put 4 teaspoons of lemon juice in a 2 litre (about 8 cup) plastic juice pitcher. I filled it with water and after I finished rinsing the conditioner out of my hair, I dipped the length of my hair in the pitcher for about 30 second or so. Then I poured it over my hair and scalp. Easy and inexpensive.

I also had one of those happy hair moments today. I was just sitting here and I leaned over to pick up my tea, and I felt my hair touch my arm in a new place. Sometimes it amazes me that we can sometimes feel growth in that way.

So all is well in the hair department today.

This week I shall make a hairstyle video. If I can't do it Monday, I'll be sure to do it by the end of the week.

I hope that you all are enjoying your weekend. I've really been enjoying the milder weather that we've been having lately.

Well, it's movie time for me now. I'm going to watch a ghost story this time.

'Til tomorrow. Love to all, and extra hugs to anyone struggling with heartbreak.

Under the Weather

That's me.  Today I'm both literally and figuratively under the weather. It remains very hot, hazy and humid today, and I have a migraine on top of it, so I'll be brief today.

I was hoping to try and master a new hairstyle today, but this just wasn't the day for it. For most of the day I haven't given my hair a thought.

However, I did hit a very mini mini-milestone today. I am now able to reach up behind my back and grab the ends of my hair at the top of the U-shape. I've been able to reach up and grab the centre of my hair for a while, but the sides of my U were too short. Now I can not only see but feel the progress on the sides of my hair, and not just the very back.

These are the kind of little things that always give me a smile, even on a day like today when I'm not feeling the smile too much.

The weather is supposed to give us a bit of a break as of tomorrow. The temperatures should be significantly lower for a few days, and I for one, welcome it.

I guess if I look on the bright side of all this humidity, I guess it does mean that the moisture in my hair will not be evaporating and drying out.

Anyway, I am going to take it easy this evening and hope that I feel better tomorrow. My primary plan is to get to bed early tonight. I need my beauty sleep.

Love to all.
